Set of two commemorative coins struck by the U.S. Mint in 1986 to mark the centennial of the Statue of Liberty.
The first is a one-dollar silver coin: the obverse shows Lady Liberty in front of the Ellis Island immigration station with the legend “GATEWAY TO AMERICA”; below are the date 1986 and mint mark S (San Francisco). The reverse depicts Liberty’s torch with rays and the verse from Emma Lazarus’s poem “GIVE ME YOUR TIRED, YOUR POOR…”.

The second is a copper–nickel half-dollar: the obverse features the Statue of Liberty against a rising sun over New York Harbor, the inscriptions “LIBERTY” and the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST”, with the date 1986 and mint mark S below. The reverse shows an immigrant family looking toward America, together with the legend “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the denomination “HALF DOLLAR”.

Both coins are housed in their original capsules and the official navy-blue U.S. Mint presentation box with a red-white-blue ribbon.
