Rare variety of 5 groszy 1840, struck at the Warsaw Mint in silver.
This specimen represents the variant with the more convex belly of the digit 5 in the denomination and without the following dot. Such die variations make the small denominations of the Kingdom of Poland particularly interesting and sought after among collectors.
The coin was struck with great care, showing well-defined elements of the wreath and legend. The details of the design remain sharp and crisp, highlighting the quality of this example.
Mint state preservation, certified by NGC MS66, placing the coin at the very top of the grading scale for this issue. The surfaces retain full mint luster with no signs of circulation and only minimal, natural hairlines. This is the second-highest grade registered at NGC for the type.
