Huge rarity! SILVER probe of the Elbing Gustav Adolf ducat from 1630, struck in the form of a clip.
In "Corpvs Nvmmorvm Civitatis Elbingensis" , Messrs. Dutkowski and Suchanek write about this item: "The originals of ducats minted in gold are currently unknown. The first one was recorded in 1772 by Braun. Vossberg, and after him Gumowski, describe two varieties of ducat dies. One description was taken from the work of Wilhelm von Crichton, p. 71, (published in 1784). The ducat impression is known from a silver clip found in Czapski's collection. Vossberg describes it after Bandtke's "Numismatics of the Country", who in turn described a specimen from the collection of Dr. Kulczyk from Międzyrzecz, the same one that later found its way to Czapski's collection through Mikocki's collection."

The authors of the catalog estimated its rarity at R8, knowing only two pieces, one from the Czapski collection and the other from the Potocki collection . Comparing the weight of both pieces, the clip we present corresponds to the weight of the clip from the Potocki collection.
