An exclusive, unique copy of the bibliophile edition of one of the oldest numismatic books devoted to Silesian numismatics.
Silesia Numismatica was published in 1711 in Jawor, by M. Gottfried Dewerdeck.
M. Gottfried Dewerdeck, was born on April 21, 1675 and died on 13.11.1726 in Legnica. From 1709 he took over the office of archdeacon in the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Legnica. He had under his care a library with an extraordinary collection of books, numismatics and medals. It was there that he published his opus magnum.
Silesia Numismatica contains over 850 pages of text and 41 beautiful tables with coins and examples of medal art. Dewerdeck translated the Latin into German in the book, as well as expanded the abbreviations of the titles on the coins of the Silesian rulers.
Dewerdeck's work is divided into 6 parts. In the first, he presents the coinage of emperors, kings and princes of Poland, kings of Bohemia and German princes, when they were the superiors of Silesia. In the second part, he presents the numismatics of Polish bishops and the princes of Legnica-Brzeg. The third part contains the remaining Silesian duchies, while the fourth part presents the Silesian lords and Silesian cities outside Wrocław. The remaining books present the numismatics of the city of Wrocław and the Silesian estates.
This extraordinary quality item will diversify any bibliophile collection, as well as a collection of Silesian coinage. It is like a red jewel in the crown of a library.
