One-dollar silver commemorative coin struck by the U.S. Mint in 1986 to mark the centennial of the Statue of Liberty’s dedication.
The obverse shows Lady Liberty in front of the Ellis Island immigration station with the legend “GATEWAY TO AMERICA,” the date 1986, and mint mark P (Philadelphia).
The reverse depicts Liberty’s torch with rays and the famous lines from Emma Lazarus’s poem: “GIVE ME YOUR TIRED, YOUR POOR…”
The coin is housed in its original capsule and official navy-blue U.S. Mint presentation box with a red-white-blue ribbon.
