A rare Russian coin with a face value of 3 rubles, made of platinum.
Russia was the first country in the world to introduce platinum coins into circulation. The program, initiated in 1828 at the St. Petersburg Mint, began with the issuance of 3 rubles and was expanded in subsequent years to include 6- and 12-ruble denominations. These coins were minted exclusively during the reign of Tsar Nicholas I, in limited editions, and for only a dozen years. After the mintage ended, the experiment was never resumed, making Russian platinum rubles among the most exceptional coins of the 19th century.
Well preserved for this type of coin, details relatively sharp, shiny background.
Attractive art.
