Set of ten silver coins. Nine pieces belong to the modernist series issued for the XX Summer Olympic Games in Munich 1972 – the first German collector 10-mark coins, famous for the edge inscription CITIUS · ALTIUS · FORTIUS and five different reverse motifs (Wheel-of-Fortune emblem, stylised chains, athlete figures, stadium plan, and Olympic flame). An objection from the GDR to the legend IN DEUTSCHLAND led the final release to bear the inscription IN MÜNCHEN. The set is completed by a coin marking the 150th anniversary of the civil class of the Pour le Mérite Order for Science and Art (1992).
