Rare issue struck in Dresden in 1767, during the period when Prince Xaver of Saxony served as administrator of the Electorate following the death of his brother, Elector Friedrich Christian.
Xaver, the younger brother of Augustus III of Poland, held de facto power in Saxony between 1763 and 1768 as Imperial Administrator (Administrator des Kurfürstentums). His coinage provides an important numismatic testimony to this short but politically significant period in the history of the Wettin dynasty.
Variety with initials EDC of Ernst Dietrich Croll, mint master of Dresden mint in 1763-1778.
