The series comprises 65 pieces in total, from the first historical prince of Russia, Rurik (862-879), to the last tsar of Russia from the Romanov dynasty, Nicholas II (1894-1917).
Medal depicts Prince Alexander of Tver (1264-1271).
The Russian suite was first issued in 1770; since then, the entire series has been reissued and expanded to include the last rulers who reigned after 1770.
