Rare ducat of Ferdinand I, struck at the Kremnitz mint in 1531
Variety bears the letters KB, the mintmark of Kremnitz.
This coin was minted during the early reign of Ferdinand I (1526–1564), a period marked by the Habsburgs’ struggle to consolidate their rights to the Hungarian crown against John Zápolya and the looming Ottoman threat.
