Issue struck at the Königsberg mint in 1624 under Georg Wilhelm of Hohenzollern (1619–1640), the last Duke of Ducal Prussia from the Brandenburg line of the Hohenzollerns.
Georg Wilhelm ruled Ducal Prussia during the turbulent years of the Thirty Years’ War. Although the duchy formally remained a fief of the Polish Crown, the actual independence of the Brandenburg rulers gradually increased.
Variety with the end of the obverse legend BRAND and one heart with a cross and without an additional symbol at the end of the reverse legend.
