High-denomination note of 1000 Lei issued in Romania during the German occupation in World War I, under the authority of Banca Generala Româna. The design features elaborate ornamental frames with large denominations 1000 at the corners and in decorative medallions. In the central field, the inscription states that the note was issued under special privilege and backed by deposits at the German Imperial Bank in Berlin. The denomination UNA MIIE LEI dominates the top.
The note has been graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated. A small tear is visible on the upper margin, not affecting the design.
A scarce and historically significant occupation issue, seldom seen in such a high state of preservation.
