Voucher issued by the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA), an institution that was later incorporated into the United Nations. This issue was intended for use in the Lithuanian Displaced Persons camp in Scheinfeld (Bavaria), where it served as a means of payment in the camp canteen.
The vouchers were printed in two languages – English and Lithuanian – emphasizing their unique character and their specific purpose for the Baltic refugee community. The presented note bears the purple validation stamp of UNRRA Team 569, further confirming its authentic use within the camp.
This example has been certified by PMG with the grade 58 Choice About Uncirculated.
UNRRA camp issues are today considered scarce and represent an important testimony to the dramatic history of post-war Europe. A rare and historically significant camp voucher.
