Uniface Danzig municipal token issued by the Rampart Office, awarded for mandatory military work.
The Rampart Office in Danzig, established in the mid-16th century, managed work related to the construction of earth fortifications surrounding the city.
Variety with accounting marks on the reverse. Seven-petal rosettes denote a specific sum of money, each flower most likely symbolized one week of work on the ramparts. The abbreviated date 77 on the reverse denotes the again use of the token in 1577, when intensified works were underway to fortify the city.
Obverse: in a dash border the coat of arms of Danzig, on the sides in the side notches of the heraldic shield the abbreviated date 7-6, two stars over the shield
Reverse: between two seven-petal rosettes, the abbreviated date 77 (1577)
