Rare ducat struck at the Kremnitz mint in 1641, during the reign of Ferdinand III of Habsburg.
The obverse features the crowned ruler holding a sceptre and orb – symbols of imperial power and divine right to rule. The reverse presents the crowned Virgin Mary seated on a crescent with the Child on her lap, and beneath, the crowned two-field coat of arms of Hungary with its distinctive double cross.
In recent years, top examples of this date have fetched prices exceeding several tens of thousands of EUR at auction.
This example is distinguished by its preserved prooflike mirrored fields on the reverse, further enhancing its appeal.
A remarkable opportunity to acquire a ducat of this calibre, combining the prestige of Habsburg gold coinage with the historic importance of the Kremnica mint.
