The Duchy of Warsaw, established in 1807 on the initiative of Napoleon Bonaparte, introduced its own paper money to improve economic circulation and finance state activities. Kass tickets, issued in thalers, were legal tender and accepted at all public cash registers. Pieces from 1810 are among the oldest and most valuable Polish banknotes today, providing priceless testimony to the history and aspirations of the young state during the turbulent era of the Napoleonic Wars.
