An interesting set of two 19th century documents issued by Bishop Georg Kopp of Wroclaw.
There is no doubt that Bishop Kopp was a dedicated pastor, although some of his decisions were controversial among the Polish clergy. Examples include the circulars of August 6 and 10, 1890, regarding the language of sermons and the formation of language groups for children taking their First Communion, his stance in the trial with the "Upper Silesian," as well as his compromising on Korfanty's marriage and the "neutralization" of the Aloysian association. His stance toward Catholic trade unions was particularly negatively received. During his ministry in the diocese, 650 churches and other pastoral-related facilities, such as charity centers and union houses, were built or expanded. Kopp actively supported the development of Catholic trade union life, priestly vocations, and initiated the construction of a theological convocation in Breslau (1895) and convents for junior high school students in Bytom, Glogow and Gliwice.
Consents in Latin for marriage.
